Lyme Bay Jurassic Coastal Walks - For Long or Short Walks its a Must!

Situated on the Lyme Bay Jurassic coast there are a large variety of coastal walks

The choice is yours, walk a short distance and climb to the top of Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast of England and the only natural World Heritage site in England or walk to Lyme Regis to the west or West Bay and beyond to the East. The coastline is a World Heritage site and as such has spectacular views. Lyme Barn with Greenwood and Pydelspring cottages are perfectly situated for a walking holiday.

Jurassic Coast Footpath
World Heritage Coastline

One of the best ways to appreciate the spectacular scenery of the Jurassic Coast is on foot. The 95 miles from Old Harry Rocks to Exmouth make up part of the South West Coast Path National Trail, and there are hundreds of miles of connecting footpaths and bridleways, giving a huge variety of possible circular walks, wherever you are on the coast.

The South West Coast Path offers some wonderful views, taking in dramatic cliff top vistas, as well as numerous sea-level sections which allow you to really appreciate the intricate rock formations or, in some locations, hunt for your own fossils. The route is easy to follow – just look for the acorn symbols as you make your way along the path.

The South West Coast Path is walkable all year round, but popular sections can get very busy during the summer months. The eroding nature of the coastline also means rerouted sections and diversions are frequent – visit the South West Coast Path website for the latest information on route changes.

Guided Walks

Guided walks and events take place along the Jurassic Coast throughout the year – details can be found on the Jurassic Coast Events page and at Tourist Information Centres along the coast. Many Visitor Centres and Museums also offer walks and other events.

South West Coast Path

The South West Coast Path website is an excellent resource for local walks along the coast and inland. It provides detailed information on easy, moderate and challenging walks including Ordnance Survey maps and clear directions.

Lyme Barn Location

Lyme Barn is ideally located for those who wish to walk the Jurassic Coastline. The coastal footpath is only 10 minutes walk from your accommodation. You can pick up anything your need from the local stores, either Felicities Farm shop or the local Post Office and General Store in Morcombelake.
